Parish in Pilgersdorf was originally established in 12th Century and the parish church was built in the 14th century and  is dedicated to saint Aegidius who is the church patron. He was hermit who lived in Greece in the 7th century.

 

Later in the year 1783 it was broadened and renovated in the year 1927.

 

In the year 1973 the old church was removed and was a new church built which was consecrated on 23.9.1973. 

 

The parish has got also four other churches in the villages Bubendorf, Deutsch Gerisdorf, Salmannsdorf and Steinbach which were built in the years 1812, 1836, 1875 and 1889.

 

The parish of Pilgersdorf has got a population of 1400 people in which 540 live in the village of Pilgersdorf and the rest living in the sub stations of the parish.

 

Fr. Salu Mathew msfs works here since 2005.
